Easebourne Community Hub Project

Easebourne Community Hub is an exciting project to create a welcoming, flexible and accessible community facility in the heart of the village.

Working in partnership with West Sussex County Council, the Parish Council is proposing to transform part of the former school building into a vibrant hub where people can meet, learn, work, socialise and celebrate.

Designed for residents of all ages, the Hub will become a place where our community comes together.

New Community Space For Easebourne

Easebourne Parish Council aspire to create a 3500sqft Community Centre at the heart of the Village, by refurbishing a section of the Primary School that faces Easebourne Park. This part of the school has remained un-used for over 10 years and West Sussex County Council have no plans for it to return to use as part of the School.

The proposal would create a series of flexible spaces available to the community for a wide variety of uses, including social events, wellbeing activities, a space for local clubs and societies to meet, exhibition spaces, business & meeting rooms, a permanent home for the Council, a coffee point and outdoor spaces. We fully expect this list to grow!

The project is a significant investment for the Parish Council, but we expect it will be entirely funded through grants and not the contribution the Parish Council receive as part of your Council Tax.

What is the Community Hub?

The Hub will provide a range of flexible indoor and outdoor spaces that can be used throughout the week by local people, organisations and businesses.

Facilities being proposed include:

Community meeting rooms

Flexible activity spaces

Business and meeting rooms

Coffee point and café

Parish Council offices

Exhibition space

Outdoor seating and activity areas

Accessible facilities throughout

Every space has been designed to be adaptable so that one building can support many different activities.

Why is Easebourne creating a Community Hub?

Over recent years Easebourne has grown significantly.

Although Easebourne Park has become an important focal point, the closure of The Refectory and the limited availability of Cowdray Hall mean that the village no longer has a dedicated community facility.

Rather than constructing a completely new building, the Parish Council is proposing to reuse an existing building that is no longer required by West Sussex County Council. This provides a more environmentally sustainable solution while making excellent use of an existing community asset.

Funding generated through recent housing developments provides the opportunity to invest in a long-term facility that will benefit future generations. Greenfield alternatives were considered but discounted because of the high cost of providing services and the loss of valuable open space.
